Flat Rock Homes

With the main campus located just outside Bellevue, Ohio, Flat Rock is grateful to be a part of the Chamber of Commerce. Flat Rock is a nonprofit organization that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities from throughout the entire state through our Care Center, Community Services Homes, Adult Advantages Day Program sites, and the new Employment Services Program.

Flat Rock Homes started as an orphanage in 1866 in Tiffin, Ohio before moving to Flat Rock. Originally for children of the Civil War, Flat Rock continued to serve the community, state, and nation in a similar capacity until 1978 when the transition was made to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The current facility stands on the land that was the location of the orphanage in 1867.

Completed in 2004, the current facility is a 50,000 square foot state-of-the-art center with 6 interconnected homes housing 34 individuals with 2 respite beds. The facility also has a full-time nursing center, a gymnasium, and multiple therapeutic centers, as well as the administrative offices. The Flat Rock Community Services serves over 30 consumers in the homes that they staff in multiple surrounding counties. The Day Programs and Employment Services Program help to employ individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at minimum wage or better.
