Join the Seneca Regional Chamber Ambassadors as they host a ribbon cutting, alongside the Seneca County Senior Fairboard, to celebrate the new small animal pavilion on Monday, July 22 at 8:30 AM, following the 8 AM Opening Ceremony of the 182nd Seneca County Fair.

The Seneca County Senior Fairboard is thrilled to announce the completion of their new 12,000 sq/ft small animal pavilion. This state-of-the-art facility will accommodate poultry, rabbit, and goat projects for young exhibitors. With easy accessibility, excellent ventilation, a 24' ceiling fan, and LED lighting, the pavilion also boasts an additional show ring.

This new building replaces two older structures that served through the 2023 fair. The first was a 5,000 sq/ft block wall poultry and rabbit barn, originally built as a race horse barn. After housing race horses until the current race horse barns were constructed, it transitioned to a Rabbit and Poultry barn, with concrete eventually added to the floor. The second was a 3,000 sq/ft open-sided building initially used to store feed and tack for the race horse barn. Later, metal siding was added to this dirt-floor building, and it briefly housed ponies before becoming the goat barn.

The fairboard has received incredible support for this facility. They were awarded a generous $10,000 grant from The Andersons, along with multiple large donations from individual donors and funds raised through various efforts. The Senior Fairboard organized two reverse raffles, which received tremendous support from the fair community. Additionally, they partnered with Emily Gilliland and the Jr. Fairboard to hold a Holiday Lights drive-through display on the grounds for the past two winters, garnering strong community and local business support. The individual species departments also contributed to this project, helping cover the cost of new pens, gates, and other necessary items to streamline the building’s use for their livestock.

The building will be available for rent from spring to fall, like the rest of the fairgrounds' facilities, and may also be used by The Tiffin Flea Market. During winter, it will serve as a storage space.

The Senior Fairboard is deeply grateful to everyone who played a part in making this project a success. Special thanks go to the contractors: Clouse Construction, Clouse Electric, Grant Decker Construction, A&D Excavating, and Morlock Asphalt. The Jr. Fair Foundation generously donated the ceiling fan and flower planters, and Nate Lucius along with fairboard member Steve Shiley installed water lines and hydrants around the building.

The fairboard eagerly anticipates the 2024 Seneca County Fair and looks forward to the countless memories that will be made in this new building for many years to come.
